III. Enhancing Our International and Boarding Character

Georgetown Prep holds a unique position as the only boarding school among the Jesuit high
schools in the United States. The resident program attracts students from around the globe.
Furthermore, our location in suburban Washington, D.C. enables us to draw a student body that
reflects the rich cultural diversity that characterizes the greater metropolitan area. We enjoy a
wealth of cultural diversity, so the integration of every student’s cultural background into the life
and mission of the school challenges students to understand themselves in relation to the world
around and beyond them. We must explore new ways to leverage this unique position as we seek
to build an Ignatian community, strengthen our curriculum, and distinguish Georgetown Prep’s
place in the private school market.

Goal: Articulate clear mission and objectives for the International Program.

Initiatives:
Re-organize to communicate the program's initiatives.
Restructure the Georgetown Prep Summer ESL Program so as to provide greater
opportunities for incoming ESL students to become more prepared academically and
culturally to meet the expectations of matriculating to Georgetown Prep.
Ensure the International Program is aligned with the school’s curriculum.
Promote and celebrate student exchange programs and international school trips.
Celebrate the many different cultures the student body and staff represent by "telling
their story" on different platforms (i.e. website, social media, magazine, etc.). In addition,
the school will host more internationally focused events for entire the student body.
Strive to ensure all boarding students and staff are and feel connected to the Georgetown
         Prep community.
Promote coordination and collaboration between the Modern Language Department and
         the International Program.

Goal: Educate with an aim to develop global ready citizens.

Initiatives:
Expose students and faculty to international programs and culture through curriculum
         and programs.
Incorporate global initiatives into the curriculum.
