I. Building a More Explicit and Engaged Ignatian Community
St. Ignatius Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises are the foundational experience of Jesuits and their
colleagues. In order to be faithful to its core mission, Georgetown Prep must be intentional
about forming a community grounded in the Exercises—a community that makes cura personalis
its top priority.
Goal: Create additional spiritual formation opportunities for all stakeholders grounded in the
Spiritual Exercises.
Initiatives:
For Students
Incorporate the Examen in the daily schedule.
Encourage greater student participation in liturgies.
Incorporate more community prayer into the school schedule.
Integrate the service programs into the curriculum using preelection and reflection.
Promote greater awareness of the 4 C’s - Competence, Conscience, Commitment, and
Compassion - and the Profile of the Graduate at Graduation into the curriculum and
school culture.
Organize assemblies and speaker series around the 4 C’s.
Offer more prayer and service opportunities for the Residential Program.
Establish a Chaplain in Residence for the Residential Program.
Explore the possibility of a retreat center.
For Parents and Alumni
Develop parent and alumni initiatives (retreats/liturgy/book club/speaker series).
Implement a new parent orientation with a focus on Ignatian Spirituality and Pedagogy.
Offer Days of Recollection for parents.
Offer college-age alumni day or evening of recollection.
