2019 AUCTION: NORWOOD SHINES!

shine?

Let us count the ways—which is exactly
what we did on Saturday, February 9,
when the community gathered at the
Ritz-Carlton D.C. for the 2019 Auction.
With the theme, “Norwood Shines,” the
evening featured a live auction, super
silent auction, dinner, and dancing to the
music of Lloyd Dobler Effect.

The result?
A record-breaking $270,000 was raised
for financial aid and faculty professional
development, benefiting every child and
every teacher at Norwood!

Special thanks to Jennie Canan, auction chair, who kept shining and
smiling through countless hours of hard work to plan this year’s
event—and to the many volunteers, donors, patrons, and bidders who
generously raised their paddles. Certainly one of the highlights of the
evening was the “Raise-the-Paddle” portion of the live auction when
nearly $100,000 was raised in just minutes. We also thank this year’s
corporate sponsors—our shining stars—Maryland Capital Management,
The Cohen Group, Whiting-Turner, and The Compass Group.

“We are so grateful to everyone who supported this important event
for our school,” said Matthew Gould. “Not only did it raise critical
significant funds for financial aid and professional development, it
was a wonderful celebration of the many ways in which Norwood
shines all year long.”
