Varnish: Varnish refers to an overcoat applied to a printed piece at the end
of the printing process. Varnish can be gloss, satin or matte and is typically
added both for aesthetic reasons and to protect the printing from wear
and tear. Flood varnish is applied to the entire surface while spot varnish is
applied to specifi c portions of the surface.

Aqueous Coating: Aqueous coating is a clear, fast-drying, water-based
coating that is used to protect printed pieces. It provides a high-gloss or PINWHEEL
matte surface that deters dirt and fi ngerprints. Aqueous coating improves
the durability of postcards and other mailed pieces as they go through the
mail, and protects business cards as they are carried in peoples' wallets. It
also looks beautiful on brochures, catalog covers, and presentation folders.
Aqueous is typically applied to the entire printed piece.

UV Coating: UV coatings are cured by exposure to ultraviolet light. UV
coatings dry quickly and provide the highest gloss versus other coatings,
however, they may crack when scored or folded due to the thickness and
hardness of the coating.
Reticulating UV: Reticulating UV is one of the most popular ways to
achieve a signature visual and/or a tactile effect. This effect is achieved by SPIRAL
combining a spot reticulating varnish over the desired matte area and an
overall UV coating over the entire piece. When these two are mixed, there
is a chemical reaction creating a fi nely textured surface.

Scented Varnish: Scented varnish transforms print into a multi-sensory
medium, increasing the impact, recall, value and effectiveness of your
marketing efforts. There are two ways to achieve scented printing with
varnish - "Scratch and Sniff" and translucent varnish. At Caskey Group, we
